Technical competence – the foundation for successful innovation
Continuous developments in materials, technologies and life sciences and an understanding of surgical techniques and medical procedures are prerequisites for innovation in medical devices.
However, this expert knowledge needs to be brought together and merged into one common understanding. Sufficient knowledge in the individual disciplines is required to understand and interpret the findings and discoveries of the specialist and apply this knowledge to new projects. This also applies to the analysis of unexpected clinical findings such as adverse events and complications.
SigmaRC has accumulated profound competences in various fields particularly relating to; the tribology of total joint replacement, the biological responses to implants and their degradation products, the prerequisites for osseointegration and biomechanics. This knowledge is further supported by the long-standing direct collaborations with physicians in their daily, clinical practice.
